MEDIA RELEASE

18 March 2025

Renowned agriculture analyst Robert Herrmann will join the team at Meridian Agriculture to help farmers and agribusinesses navigate complex decisions in an ever-changing industry.

Meridian Director Andrew Speirs said Robert would be part of the management group and work directly with farmers and agribusiness to support strategic planning and special projects.

“Robert has a wealth of experience in farm strategy and market analysis and brings a unique set of skills to the Meridian team which will add great value to our client offering,” he said.

“His expertise lies in enterprise decision-making and risk management, providing practical, results-driven advice to farmers and agribusinesses.”

Robert’s 40 years of experience in agribusiness includes 11 years as a senior wool specialist with Elders Ltd where he provided strategic advice on the marketing and risk management of agricultural commodities.

After leaving Elders, he established Ag Concepts Unlimited – an independent, specialist agricultural strategy and marketing advisory business.

Robert later formed Ag Concepts Advisory (ACA) in response to the changing landscape of the wool industry post-Reserve Price Scheme and then expanded into the areas of livestock and grain price risk management.

Under Robert’s leadership, Ag Concepts developed Mecardo Market Analysis which provides analysis and commentary on news, data and analysis relevant to the Australian & International grain, red meat and wool industries.

Ag Concepts was purchased by Rural Co which, in turn, merged with Landmark to form Nutrien Ag Solutions where Robert was retained as Customer, Product & Market Specialist. Between 2020 and 2023, he was also a Board Member for Sheep Producers Australia.

Robert will take up his role at Meridian Ag as a senior consultant on 17 March 2025. He will also continue his part-time role as Executive Director of the National Council of Wool Selling Brokers of Australia.

Robert said he was looking forward to the new role at Meridian Ag.

“I am very pleased to join Meridian Ag – a company I have had a long professional relationship with in my previous work. The services they provide will be a good fit with the experience I have gained over my agriculture journey,” he said.

“My focus aligns with the professional approach Meridian Ag takes to providing advice, and I look forward to connecting with existing and new clients”
